Assistive Technology Program Celebrates its
Silver Anniversary

Easter Seals Massachusetts is celebrating a milestone in 2013 – the 25^th anniversary of its award-winning Assistive Technology program.

One of the first programs of its kind in the country, it began with a few donated computers and one staff member.  Today this pioneering program is nationally recognized for the creativity and expertise of its staff as they work to empower people with disabilities to reach their full potential.

Easter Seals Assistive Technology is one of the largest programs of its kind in the country, yet its focus remains on the needs of the individual.  Services are provided where they are needed – in homes, schools, workplaces and community settings.

Through the years, the Assistive Technology program has taken a number of important steps:

• Pioneering the use of Dragon speech recognition software
• Opening Assistive Technology Centers in Worcester, Boston and New Bedford that loan out technology and teach people about its use
• Creating an Assistive Technology Loan Program that offers low-cost financial loans sp people with disabilities can buy the technology they need

 Through its public and private partnerships, the Assistive Technology Program has touched the lives of countless people with disabilities and their families, ensuring that they have equal opportunities, to live, learn, work and play.
